European Consumer Centre Denmark’s Annual Report 2020

Consumer enquires to the ECC Network

In the ECC-Net, we experienced a record number of consumer questions and complaints. Read more about it in this section of the annual report.

In 2020, the European Consumer Centre Network (ECC-Net) consisted of 30 offices, one in every EU country, as well as Norway, Iceland and the UK.

2020 was the network’s busiest year ever, with 168,000 consumer enquiries across the 30 offices in Europe. The year before, in 2019, the total number of customer enquiries was 120,000. This shows that the number of enquiries and cases in the network increased by 40%.

More than 60,000 of the enquiries of 2020 were related to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although there were the most consumer enquiries in March and April, consumer demand continued to be high for the rest of 2020, with the number of enquiries for the remaining months being considerably higher than the previous year.
